Noon Sertoma Club Donates $5,000 to Bridges of Hope

BRAINERD, Minn. (June 18, 2019) – A surprise presentation to Bridges of Hope by a member of the Brainerd Noon Sertoma Club made a tea party fundraiser that much sweeter.20190406_142811.jpg

Brainerd Fire Department firefighter Nick Haglin was on hand at the April 6 Afternoon Tea for Hope at Madden’s on Gull Lake to help serve tea to the over 200 in attendance. But, during the program, Haglin switched proverbial hats and donned one as Sertoma Club Vice President to surprise Bridges of Hope Executive Director Kassie Heisserer with a check for $5,000.

Haglin explained the Sertoma Club raised over $25,000 from its Winter Wonderland event held Thanksgiving through New Years Eve at the Northland Arboretum. The Club selected five local nonprofits to receive funding, and Bridges of Hope was named among them.

The Afternoon Tea for Hope is held each spring and specifically raises funds for the Side By Side program, a mentoring partnership for women transitioning from struggle to success.

In 2018, Bridges of Hope served over 1,500 households – or more than 3,900 individuals of all ages. To learn more about any of the programs offered by Bridges of Hope, visit http://www.bridgesofhopemn.org or call (218) 825-7682.
